Vaginal rejuvenation

Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome is defined as an increase in the vaginal wall’s internal diameter. This may lead to reduced contact during coitus and unsatisfactory sex for the woman and her partner. It’s usually due to natural childbirth (especially when done twice or more), congenital connective tissue weakness manifesting with advanced age, etc.

Modern medical innovation and striving towards more and more noninvasive procedures have provided physicians with an invaluable weapon – vaginal tightening via laser treatment which does not require surgery. Vaginal rejuvenation laser therapy has been established as an accessible and noninvasive treatment method.

AestheLine Clinic provides the latest non-surgical Er:Yag laser therapy to treat Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome – IntimaLase® by leading medical laser manufacturer Fotona.

The laser has a thermostimulating effect on the collagen present in the vaginal walls. This causes restructuring and stimulating new connective tissue formation. As a result, the vaginal canal becomes tighter, bringing greater sexual pleasure.

The treatment is quick and usually involves 3 procedures every 30 days.

IntimaLase® doesn’t use laser beams to inflict tissue damage, so there is no recovery period, and you may resume sexual activity a week afterward.

What does the procedure involve?

The treatment consists of two phases. After taking all the necessary tests and measurements, the physician will insert a sterile glass speculum to limit the vagina’s contact with the laser tip. The laser is then placed in the speculum and commences treatment along the entire vaginal mucous membrane. It will go over that area two or three times.  You won’t feel any pain or burning during the procedure. You may feel slightly stronger burning when the laser is treating the area near the vaginal entrance. This will only last a couple of seconds. Towards the end of the treatment, an anesthetic gel will be applied to your vaginal entrance, labia minora and urethra. Then, the laser will treat that area. You might feel slight burning.
The procedure lasts between 30 and 40 minutes.

What are the contraindications?

The IntimaLase therapy is performed after we’ve taken all necessary tests and measurements – a PAP smear and a gynecological exam. It is contraindicated in cases of vaginal infection, positive PAP smear results, during menstruation and pregnancy.  Its effects are diminished in cases of BMI >40 obesity and severe prolapse. After undergoing IntimaLase therapy, you may experience stronger vaginal flow 2-3 days after the procedure. It may present as intermittent, slight bleeding.

When does the treatment take effect and how long does it last?

The therapy’s effects become noticeable after the very first procedure. After 2 or 3 procedures, the effect lasts for up to 18-24 months.

What is the recommended post-procedure care?

The recovery period is extremely fast, and there is no need to take analgesics and antibiotics. There is no special post-procedure care. You need to abstain from sexual contacts for at least a week after the procedure. You should avoid using tampons for 4 weeks after undergoing treatment. You should avoid severe physical strain for at least 2 weeks after undergoing treatment.

How many procedures should I undergo and how often?

It is recommended to undergo at least two procedures. We have received a post-therapy satisfaction score of over 97%. On average, the vagina tightens by 17%.  The procedures are performed once a month.
