Laser hair removal

Laser hair removal is a gold standard in removing unwanted facial and body hair with long lasting results and a high level of safety.

The procedure is done with the Nd: Yag laser, one of the most effective lasers every skin types  (light to dark). Its advantage over other types of hair removal lasers besides its safe profile is the penetration depth, which is the highest of all others.

The effect of the laser is based on the emission of a concentrated beam of light that reaches the hair follicle and destroys it without disturbing the surrounding skin.

The procedure is effective on dark hairs on light or darker skin.

What does the procedure involve?

The therapist marks the areas to be treated. Areas where there are moles or tattoos are marked and are avoided during processing.

During the procedure the skin feels warm to slightly burning. To minimize unpleasant sensations, a stream of cold air is used.

All the time the patient is wearing protective glasses.

The duration of the procedure varies depending on the size of the area to be treated.

What are the contraindications?

The procedure is ineffective if hair is removed by epilator, wax or other type of plucking 4 weeks before facial treatment and 6 weeks for body treatment.

The procedure is contraindicated for viral or bacterial skin infection. It is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with light sensitivity and epilepsy.

Immediately after the therapy, depending on the individual skin reaction, slight redness and slight swelling around the treated hair is observed. It may be possible in some places with thicker and longer hairs to form small vesicle.

When does the treatment take effect and how long does it last?

Approximately between the 14th and the 28th day spontaneous fall of the treated hairs begins. It is necessary to make a series of procedures in order to achieve the optimal effect of the therapy. Laser epilation leads to a permanent reduction (about 85%) of hair. In most cases, hairs do not grow or are replaced with barely visible fuzzy hairs. The effect may persist for more than 10 years.

What is the recommended post-procedure care?

After the procedure, the hairs should not be removed mechanically, using an epilator or other methods. It is desirable to avoid direct sunlight for at least 14 days after the procedure and to use a sunscreen product. Between procedures, it is advisable to remove the hair only with a razor or depilatory cream.

How many procedures should I undergo and how often?

The number of procedures to achieve the optimal effect depends on the area to be treated and the individual skin, hair, and hormonal status. For permanent hair removal, between 6 and 10 procedures are needed, and for legs sometimes 3 are enough. As hair in different areas grows with different speed, the interval between procedures also varies. Facial therapies should be repeated every 3 or 4 weeks, while for the legs this interval is at least 8 weeks.
