Fillers / Hyaluronic acid
Aesthetic medicine specialists often appply fillers for wrinkle smoothing, volume adding, contouring and filling acne scars.
Fillers are preferred by many women and men because of the immediate effect, lack of recovery period and safety profile.
The most commonly used fillers are based on hyaluronic acid, which is a natural ingredient of the human body and has a powerful hydrating effect.
Hyaluronic acid has the ability to absorb large amounts of water by increasing its volume. Since it is a natural constituent of the skin, it does not induce responses against itself and gradually decomposes under the influence of the natural enzymes in the body.
Depending on the concentration, the viscosity and the density of the hyaluronic product, it can be applied in different zones and for different purposes: augmenting lips, cheekbones shaping, smoothing the wrinkles around the mouth, eyes and forehead, restoring hollowness of the cheeks and temporal zones, enhancing the chin and contouring the jaw line, rejuvenating the neck and hands, etc.
IMPORTANT
The safety and quality of the injected products should be guaranteed by your dermatologist. Aestheline Dermatology Clinic works only with hyaluronic acid products that are officially registered for use in Bulgaria, clinically tested and with quality certificates. The clinic offers its patients the high quality Juvederm® and Belotero® products.
How the procedure is performed?
Our trained and certified to work with the product dermatologist, will prepare you for the procedure and follow strictly established clinical protocol.
The specialist will mark the face (and neck) and mark the problematic areas where the filler will be injected. For greater comfort an anesthetic cream can be applied. Before injecting the lips the anaesthetic cream must be kept for at least 20 minutes.
Depending on the treatment zones, the injection procedure will take between 20 and 40 minutes.
Depending on the treated areas, one of the two techniques of attaching the filler is chosen – either with a needle or with a cannula.
What are the contraindications and side effects?
This treatment is not recommended for patients with epilepsy, likely to develop scarring, and with hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, pregnant or breastfeeding women and children.
Hyaluronic acid application should be avoided if another filler is injected within 2 weeks.
After the procedure redness and swelling in the injected areas could be observed, which usually disappear within a few hours. Bruising that passes within a week is also possible to appear. Very rarely it is possible to experience inflammation or to feel bumps for a longer time.
When does it occur and what is the duration of the effect?
The duration of the result is individual and depends on the physiological features and habits of the person. Depending on its structure, hyaluronic acid absorbs for 6-12 months. With each subsequent placement of hyaluronic acid, the duration of the result obtained may be longer due to the residual effect of the previous filler. If necessary, at any moment the filler may be degraded with a special enzyme (hyaluronidase) injected into the specific zones.
What is the recommended care after the procedure?
2-3 hours after the procedure the pricking areas should not be damped or polluted.
The treated areas should not be pressed or massaged, the cosmetic procedures, peelings, massages and face cleaning are also forbidden in the next 2 weeks.
Within a month after insertion of the filler radio frequency, laser and other high temperature generating procedures are undesirable because of the risk of faster degradation of hyaluronic acid.
Checkup is recommended 2 weeks after the procedure, where it may be necessary to place more of the product.
How many procedures are recommended and what is the frequency?
Re-treatment of an area is recommended at least 2 weeks after the first procedure, except when two fillers of different depth are injected. Then they can be applied within one procedure.
A subsequent one-time procedure to maintain the result is recommended after 6 to 12 months, depending on the individual rate of degradation of hyaluronic acid from the body.
